Hi, I’m Dipansu, a DFX Supervisor at The Mill, Technicolor India, with over 24 years of experience in the VFX industry.
My journey began after Art College, where I started as a 2D classical animator in Kolkata, working on frame-by-frame hand-drawn animation—a craft I still deeply admire. I was also the writer and director of “Sergeant Rohit,” the first Bengali 2D animated TV show aired on Doordarshan.
In 2006, I transitioned to 3D/CG as a generalist in Mumbai, specializing in Asset Creation, Rigging, and Animation before finding my true passion—FX. I spent several years as an FX Supervisor, later advancing to CG Supervisor, and now lead as a DFX Supervisor at The Mill.
Beyond team leadership and project execution, I have extensive experience in shoot supervision, ensuring that VFX seamlessly integrates with live-action cinematography. Every project is an opportunity to push creative and technical boundaries, and that’s what drives me every day.
The Mill worked with LoudMouth to bring to life an energetic and VFX-packed spot for the new IPL season. We sat down with DFX Supervisor Dipansu Halder from The Mill India and Senior Compositor Shailesh Kamble from The Mill Shanghai to learn about their experience being on set for the shoot with the LoudMouth crew and IPL stars.
